Ghanaian Premier League side Ashanti Gold Sporting Club is in shock after their head coach Romain Folz sneaked out of Obuasi to the Kotoka International Airport in Accra.
The coach mysteriously vanished from the sight of officials on Monday and all efforts to trace him by Ashgold officials proved futile ,only for him to resurface at the Airport in the night with luggages to fly to his country, citing unhappiness at his job with the four times league champions.
The 30-year-old French international signed a two-year deal with the Miners recently , but information gathered by ghanasportspage.com indicatates that the coach is not returning to the club again which has created anxiety within the top hierarchy of the yellow and blacks .
The Frenchman who was spotted by Ghanaian immigration officers at the airport,was questioned as his movement looked suspicious but he could not say much,only insisting it’s time to leave Ghana. Folz reportedly told them he is not happy with the conditions at the club and has decided to return to his country .Your authoritative ghansportspage.com can reveal that there has been few misunderstandings in the club since the coach arrived especially as he rather listens to the sporting director Nana Kwasi Darlington instead of the Club President and his son who is the CEO.
Ashgold officials refused to comment on the current situation but a source tells this website that the club is immediately replacing the coach within days ,and that assistant coach Thomas Duah,who is a license A holder will be informed later today to act as head coach pending the arrival of the new coach .
Meanwhile ,the club’s goalkeeper’s trainer Alejandro Manu Rodriguez Lazaro is also believed to have taken the same route as his boss,flying away to Europe over similar reasons. He, together with the head coach and trainer were seen at the airport on Monday night.
It was innitially thought he was seeing his boss off but was later spotted boarding the same flight to Europe.
The Frenchman played 4 games with AshantiGold SC. He won 1-0 against Hearts of Oak on match day 19, split points with King Faisal on matchday 20, had a 4-0 victory against Bechem United on matchday 21 and lost 2-1 to Elmina Sharks last Sunday.
Meanwhile Ashanti Gold will host Eleven Wonders on matchday 23 at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday 9th May 2021.
