Hearts Of Oak star Ibrahim Salifu is hoping to utilize the Black Meteors opportunity to earn a call-up into the senior national team, Black Stars.
Since his arrival at Hearts of Oak a few months ago, Salifu has displayed great skills as a playmaker and has boosted the Phobians’ chances of winning win the trophy this season- a task reportedly assigned to him by Togbe Afede.
The 20-year-old silky midfielder’s impressive displays in the Ghana Premier League has earned him an invitation into Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin’s Black Meteors’ upcoming international friendly matches with Japan on June 4 and June 8.
However, Ibrahim says he is grabbing the opportunity offered him with both hands and he is keen to use his place in the national U-23 team to catch the eye of Black Stars coach Charles Akonnor before his next call-up in September.
“I was very happy to see my name in the team and this motivates me enough to continue giving my all,” Ibrahim told the Graphic Sports in an interview.
“This is an opportunity for me to prove myself to Ghanaians and Coach Charles Akonnor to get a chance with the Black Stars.
“I am ready to take this chance and I can’t wait to play for the team. It is going to be an international stage and I am prepared to give my all.”
With six assists and two goals so far in the league, Ibrahim Salifu has won seven man of the match accolades for himself so far this season– the most by any player in the league have positioned the midfielder in strong contention for the Player of the Season honour.
