The desire of Great Olympics to continue their winning spree after defeating Inter Allies 1-0 in Accra last week could not materialise as they shared the points with Karela United at the CAM Park in Anyinase on Saturday.
While the visitors were impressive, especially in the first half, it was the hosts that took an early lead in the 10th-minute as top scorer in the league, Diawusie Taylor scored from the spot to send goalkeeper Benjamin Asare the wrong way.
Great Olympics gradually warmed themselves in the game after the Taylor’s and began to have more of the ball.
Their persistent search for a goal paid off in the 44th-minute through Samuel Ashie-Quaye after connecting Kasim Razak’s pass to slot the ball into the roof of the net to get his side back on level terms. The second part of the game did not produce much action as both sides went physical on each other in all departments of the game, despite the substitutions both coaches effected, the players could not turn things around, to end the game 1-1.
Karela United travel to Medeama while Great Olympics face league leaders Hearts of Oak in matchweek 28 in the Premier League.
