Asante Kotoko travel to Dormaa Ahenkro to face Aduana Stars in the week 27 fixture of the Ghana Premier League. The Porcupine Warriors have never won a match nor score a premier league goal against the “Ogya” lads in Dormaa, but Gyamfi is confident that the time to break the jinx is now.
On the team bus to Dormaa, the former Wa All Stars (now Legon Cities) winger raised the moral of his teammates with a passionate chant of the club’s song dubbed, “Wo kum apem a apem beba”, which literally translates as “if you kill thousand thousands will come”.
Gyamfi remains the only Asante Kotoko player to have scored a goal at the Dormaa Ahenkro, Nana Agyemang Badu Park against Aduana Stars, a foot he chocked in the Normalization Committee Special Competition in 2019.
Asante Kotoko have not won the domestic league for the past six seasons, and lying second on the league table tied on same points with arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak but difference goals, the Kumasi based side has Aduana Stars in their way to beat if they can make their dream of winning this season’s league title a reality.
