Asante Kotoko SC winger Emmanuel Gyamfi believe playing their 2020/21 Ghana Premier League games away from home is the Genesis of their struggling.
The Ghana Premier League record holder’s (24) begun their quest for the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League title at the Accra Sports Stadium after the National Sports Authority (NSA) had asked them relocate for the renovation of the Baba Yara Stadium. Games in the first round of the campaign was honored on the soil of their arch rivals Hearts of Oak SC leading to their dip in form.
Their first five matches was nothing to write home about having started poorly under Coach Maxwell Konadu. Asante Kotoko SC inconsistency paved way for Great Olympics, Eleven Wonders FC and Aduana Stars to snatch vital points from them.
Abysmal performance which was exhibited against Techiman Eleven Wonders FC was the last straw that broke the camel’s back to part ways with ex-Black Stars B trainer Maxwell Konadu.
In an interview with Adanse3 FM, Emmanuel Gyamfi said playing away from home have not being the best. Currently, they trade at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium after snubbing the Accra Sports Stadium in the second round.
“Playing our home games in Accra was a tough thing because traveling from Kumasi to play a game in the Capital was not easy at all, looking at the travel hours and playing away from home was always a neutral ground for the other teams”
“We were using the venue with our rivals Hearts of Oak SC, Great Olympics and Inter Allies FC”It was a difficult period”
“The playing body don’t look much unto the supporters but it’s true their support and prayers leads us to the apex, playing in Obuasi is of no difference playing in Accra”
“We would have had our numerous supporters cheering us up at the Baba Yara Stadium but we haven’t gotten that but all the same, the little support for us will serge us forward”, Gyamfi concluded.
The Porcupine Warriors are second on the Ghana Premier League log after drawing goalless in their matchday 27 game against Aduana Stars FC.
