Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has withdrawn from England’s squad with an injury.
Arnold picked up a thigh problem during England’s friendly match with Austria on Wednesday night. The Reds defender underwent a scan on Thursday that confirmed the inhry will prevent him from taking part in the Euro 2020 tournament that starts next week.
The 22-year-old will immediately start a rehabilitation programme with a view to returning in pre-season as the Reds prepare for 2021-22.
The Three Lions coach Gareth Southgate will not confirm a replacement until after Sunday’s return to the Riverside Stadium for the warm-up fixture against Romania.
