Ghanaian astute Football Administrator, Kofi Manu has urged Ghana Premier League giant’s Accra Hearts of Oak SC not to worry themselves with a protest against Great Olympics.
The Continental Club Masters believe Accra Great Olympics field an unqualified player in the Ga Mantse derby on Sunday which was played at the Accra Sports Stadium. Though, Hearts of Oak SC scored an early goal courtesy Emmanuel Nettey but Olympics rallied back to draw parity before full time following an enigmatic header from Maxwell Abbey Quaye.
Hearts of Oak having failed to annex all maximum points on the field have resorted to filing a protest against Great Olympics who beat them 2-0 in the first round.
Article 33 of the revised Ghana Football Association Premier League Regulations states that a team commits an offence punishable by forfeiture of a match where that team fields an unqualified player.
However, Kofi Manu believe is a waste of time for Hearts of Oak SC. Advising them to find a serene environment and sleep than wasting time and money.
“Great Olympics cannot be held responsible regarding Hearts of Oak protest if what I heard is true. They should find a serene place to sleep to strategise for the rest of the matches left in the League” he told Opemsuo FM.
“The current player transfer system is such that you cannot register a player unlawfully because the data of everyone is at the FIFA IT Central system.”
“Another reason is that, Olympics did not register the player straight away”
“He was with a second division side before he joined Olympics, meaning his information was in the system already, so, how do you hold Olympics responsible for this,” he quizzed.
Meanwhile, should the protest filed by Hearts of Oak succeeds, the offending team which is Great Olympics shall be considered as having lost the match and accordingly, three (3) points and three (3) goals shall be awarded in favour of Accra Hearts of Oak.
Hearts of Oak SC are currently join-top with arch rivals Asante Kotoko on 50 points after 28 league games.
Great Olympics sit fourth with 45 points.
