The Players’ Status Committee (PSC) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Monday, June 14, 2021, ordered Hearts of Oak coach Samuel Boadu to pay his former club Medeama a paltry GH₵ 30,000 for breach of contract.

The former Asokwa Deportivo coach shocked the Mauve and Yellows with a resignation on February 25, 2021, but signed a permanent contract with Hearts of Oak seven days later.

Medeama claimed that the arbitral decision by the coach have caused “irreparable harm” and has had a negative impact on the overall performance of the team and thus petitioned the PSC on Boadu’s unilateral termination of his contract with the club and also rule on the residual value of monthly salary and general damages entitlement for breach of contract.

The two-time FA Cup were seeking “substantial damages” of around GH₵ 320,000 for the arbitrary decision by the coach including compensation but the PSC on Monday rejected Medeama’s residual value claim, ruling that the gaffer must pay just GH₵ 30,000 to his former club for the “unilateral” termination of his contract.

However, speaking to Ghanasportspage.com, Samuel Boadu confirmed his readiness to appeal the latest judgment from the Players Status Committee against him.

“I am not happy with the ruling. I went to Moses (Parker) to inform him of my decision to leave the club (Medeama) and you gave me your blessings and wished me well so I don’t know why he took me to the GFA, I don’t know whether it’s because we scored them that’s why he wants to take such an amount from me but would have asked for such an amount from me if the scoreline had gone into his favour? he quizzed.

“Oh yeah, I will do the appeal, even if it has to end at CAS, I am ready to go”

Samuel Boadu spent three years at Medeama before crossing carpet to the capital to join Hearts of Oak.
