Two Asante Kotoko goalkeepers, Razak Abalora and on-loan Danlad Ibrahim have been nominated in the Goalkeeper of the Year category at the 2021 Ghana Football Awards.
Abalora has been outstanding for the Porcupines since he made his debut for the club against Dreams FC in the first round of the Ghana Premier League at Dawu, making 22 appearances so far, keeping 12 clean sheets and conceding 11 goals to keep the Porcupines in the title race.
Danlad Ibrahim who has been loaned to King Faisal for the rest of the season also demonstrated pure class at the U-20 AFCON held in Mauritania few months ago, saving Ghana on several dangerous occasions from conceding.
His penalty saving heroics in the quarter-finals steered the Black Satellites to the semi-finals of the tournament where he guided the side to pip Gambia in the final to win the ultimate and also conquered West Africa winning the WAFU Zone B championship.
He kept 4 clean sheets and conceded 3 goals in 6 games and was subsequently named the best goalkeeper of the tournament in Mauritania.
The duo will be competing with Black Stars and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Richard Ofori for the top award.
The Ghana Football Awards is designed to award distinguished football personalities in Ghana and abroad who have excelled over the course of the season
