Information reaching Ghanasportspage indicate that the Referees Appointment Committee and the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association are planning to hire a foreign referee to handle Hearts of Oak’s matchweek 31 home game against Asante Kotoko.
The Ghana Premier League is at its home stretch with Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak tied with the same points with goal difference separating both clubs.
The Phobians will welcome the Porcupines to the Accra Sports Stadium in a fierce battle that could determine where the Ghana Premier League title ends.
Referees have been lambasted a lot by clubs officials, players and coached a lot this season with a lot of blunders committed.
In the run-up to the epic clash, officiating has dominated the game as questions are being raised about which referee will handle the match in the wake of all these mistakes.
However, a close source at the Ghana Football Association has whispered into the ears of Ghanasportspage.com’s desk that the association are planning to appoint an outsider to handle the epic clash.
“Yes, it’s true we’ve had such discussion but it wasn’t as serious as you may think, we will sit on it again to determine whether we should go for an outsider or allow our locals to handle the game. Our referees haven’t been bad this season but looking at the heat and the pressure at the top and the complaints we receive from clubs after every week, I strongly believe we should opt for a foreigner to handle the game,” the source disclosed.
The first league between the two in the first round of the season ended 0:0 in the Accra Sports Stadium.
