Asante Kotoko will lock horns with lower-tier side Thunderbolt FC in the Round of 32 of the MTN FA Cup.

The match has been scheduled to kick off this afternoon, June 19, 2021, at the Afrane Okese Park in Ejisu, where Thunderbolt and Asante Kotoko will battle it out for a round of 16 berth.

The fixture is expected to be a thrilling one spiced with ferocity and plucky as both sides have vowed to pick the slot to the next stage of the upset driven competition.

The Porcupines eliminated Bekwai Youth football Academy in the round of 64. Goals from Fabio Gama from the spot and Emmanuel Keyekeh’s wonderful free-kick secured the passage for the Reds to this stage.

Thunderbolt, prior to this stage defeated Konongo Owareman FC 3-1 and River Plate 2-0 to make it to the round of 32.

After a spirited performance against Inter Allies last Monday to sucure a late win, the Porcupines would want to continue their recent good run to boost their confidence going into the Karela United game on Wednesday.

This type of games give Mariano Barreto a chance to rotate his players, give some a rest and get some minutes under the belts of others.

Asante Kotoko will start as favourites due and the desire to win double this season will motivate the Porcupines to go all out.

The Porcupines are expected to fill in with relatively a second team which could see the return of most of their players who have been out of action for sometime now.

Abdul Ganiyu having sustained an injury in their last still made a quick return but not likely he will be in the starting XI today.

Evans Adomako looks fit now and might start again for the second consecutive time after starring against Inter Allies in week 29.

The match is scheduled for 3pm kick off at the Afrane Okese Park and will be live on StarTimes Adepa channel 247.
