Asante Kotoko SC Communication Director, David Obeng Nyarko has disclosed that his outfit have performed over extreme to arrive at their current destination on the Ghana Premier League standing.
The giant’s have suffered to play their 2020/21 Ghana Premier League games away from home following the decision by the National Sports Authority (NSA) to have the Baba Yara Stadium undergo renovation works.
Despite, change of venue the Porcupine Warriors have fought hard to peg with arch rivals Hearts of Oak SC at the top of the league log with 53 points, heading into match day 30 fixtures.
Though, the team from the hierarchy had to change hands affecting the playing body as well as the technical direction of the club. Nevertheless, their aim to clinch a major title keeps boasting week after week.
Currently, Obuasi Len Clay Stadium is their newly adopted home venue having switched from the Nation’s Wembley.
Speaking in an interview with Kumasi based Wontumi FM/TV, David Obeng Nyarko said the performance from the entire team is highly applauded considering how they had to move away from their favourite grounds Baba Yara Stadium to the Lions den Accra Sports Stadium due to COVID-19 situation and their participation in Africa.
“Due to our competition in Africa and COVID-19 we had to play in Accra, thus away from home which was a tough thing to do”.
“We moved away from our home grounds due to the renovation works, we also made that move for our participation in the Africa Inter-Club competition”.
“This season has being a tough season for us but with all these and rebuilding, looking at our current position on the log I think we are overly impressed with the performance of the team in general”, he added.
Asante Kotoko SC will play as guest to Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday in a super clash but that will be after hosting Karela United FC at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Wednesday.
