The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed its decision to deploy the services of Military officers for this Sunday’s super clash between Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.
The match day 31 fixture will see the two giants battling it out for the three maximum points, having set sights on clinching the 2020/21 league trophy. As it stands, both teams sit top of the league standing with 53 points apiece but goal deficit hitting Asante Kotoko to the second place.
The titanic encounter which will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium is expected to contain only 25% of spectators due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Not more than the above percentage will be allowed to the stadium.
In a related story, tickets will not be sold on the match day.
Speaking to Ghanasportspage.com , Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum confirmed that deploying the services of the Military and the Police have been agreed on to ensure decency at the match venue during and after the titanic encounter.
“That’s very true but this is nothing new, Henry told ghanasportspage.com .
“We will have joint Police and Military presence at the match venue, that should not be a new thing. For one reason or the other the presence of the two security agencies will help a lot, he said.
When asked about the number of Military officers that have been assigned to the stadium, he failed to confirm.
“I don’t have the numbers at the moment, he responded”.
The make or break encounter is expected to be a decider of who wins the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League title.
