Asante Kotoko SC gaffer, Mariano Barreto, has said the Reds winning the Ghana Premier League depends on Hearts of Oak’s results in the remaining three fixtures of the season.
Kotoko suffered a 1-0 loss to their arch-rivals Hearts of Oak on Sunday. Hence, the latter has extended the lead at the top of the table by three points.
“Of course, Hearts of Oak have three points more than us on the Premier League table with three matches to end season.” He said after game
“The remaining matches are tough, very difficult matches and for now the league doesn’t depend on us but what Hearts of Oak can do in the future.”
“We have to continue to work hard but it’s still difficult”
Asante Kotoko in the last three matches will play relegation battling King Faisal in Obuasi then a trip to Bechem United before wrapping up the season in Obuasi against Elmina Sharks.
Hearts, on the hand, will play as visitors to Ebusua Dwarfs then host Liberty Professionals and climax their season with away game against WAFA.
The Accra based side needs six points out of the possible nine to be crowned champions of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League.
The Phobians lead the log with 59 points while Asante Kotoko sits 2nd with 56 points.
