Former FC Porto and Black Stars winger Christian Atsu has expressed how devastated he is having failed to play at the highest level in football at the moment.
The talented left-footer in his early days especially in Portugal was highly rated for his proficiency and skills earning him ‘Ghana’s Messi’. However, all suddenly went missing after making a sensational move to England where he joined Chelsea FC.
His move according to sports pundits was a great one but the Ghanaian International did not step a foot in London only to be sent on loan to Malaga in the La Liga Santander.
From multiple loan spells, Christian Atsu finally joined Newcastle United on a permanent deal in 2017 after having a successful loan stint with the Magpies helping them secure promotion to the Premier League.
He played for couple of seasons but had to exit Newcastle United having fallen short to the technical handlers.
Last month, he kissed the goodbye with Newcastle United FC and currently is a free agent.
Speaking to Starr Sports in an interview, Christian Atsu admitted he should have been playing at the highest level in football by now.
“I know I could have reached a higher level by now because I believe with all my heart even when I was leaving for Europe, I knew I will play football to the highest level,” the winger said.
“I know this is not my level, the level I am supposed to be but there are a lot of things behind it which I don’t want to make it public.”
The forward is currently in talks with a few clubs with Turkish giant’s Galatasary keen on signing him.
