After reaching an agreement in principle with the former France international to take over the reins at Selhurst Park, Ghanaian duo, Jordan Ayew and Jeffrey Schlupp are likely to work under Patrick Vieira as their new manager at Crystal Palace, according to The Athletic.
That agreement has yet to be signed, but all sides expect it to be done today. Vieira is in the process of obtaining a visa so that he may begin pre-season training on Monday.
Since December of last year, Vieira has not held a managerial position. That’s when he departed Nice, a French club.
Bournemouth were interested in him as they were seeking for a new manager after Jason Tindall left earlier in 2021. On Monday, they finally signed Scott Parker as their permanent manager.
Vieira has also managed New York City FC in the past. In 2018 and 2019, he was a candidate for a position at Arsenal. The 45-year-old has previously been linked with a move to Newcastle.
The former Arsenal midfielder has never coached a senior side in the United Kingdom, but he was a standout player for the Gunners from 1996 and 2005. In the Premier League, he made 279 appearances and won the title three times.
Meanwhile, Jordan Ayew and Jeffrey Schlupp have been key members of the Eagles in the last three seasons, with the former winning Crystal Palace player of the season in the 2019/20 campaign.
