“I want to play in the Champions league” – Abambilla’s reason to join UKS SMS Łódź

Black Queens of Ghana attacking midfielder Ernestina Abambilla is elated to join Polish Women’s Premier League side UKS SMS Łódź, disclosing her special reason behind such a sensational move.

UKS SMS Łódź in the just ended Ekstraliga Kobiet finished second behind Czarni Sosnowiec who were crown Champions. Having set sight on clinching next season title, have begun augmenting their squad with the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Ernestina Abambilla.

The former Ghana U-17 and Ghana U-20 attacker joined the outfit on a free transfer after leaving KKPK Medyk Konin following her end of stint.

The former Sekondi Hasaacas Ladies star inked a two year contract with UKS SMS Łódź on Thursday after passing her medical examination.

Speaking to Kolog Bonaventure of Ghanasportspage.com in an exclusive interview, Ernestina Abambilla who begun playing for the National team in 2014 disclosed that she wants to play in the Champions league and that’s the main reason she accepted the offer from UKS SMS Łódź.

“I’m very excited to join UKS SMS Łódź, l choose this club because the system they play here fit the way l also play my football and it will help me as player to mature very well”UKS SMS Łódź is investing alot this year because they want to play champions league next season and that is my dream to play champions league, main reason l choose here”.

“Having said that, my plan for UKS SMS Łódź is to score and assist as many as I can to win the Ekstraliga and to help them qualify to champions league next season”, She said.

“I like their philosophy, and also they have alot of potential players here that will help me as a player mature very well in my game”, Ernestina Abambilla concluded.

The 22-year old became the first Ghanaian female player to score in the UEFA Champions league when she joined Belarusian Premier League side FC Minsk. She scored to ensure her side beat Ljubljana in the group stage of the 2017-18 UEFA Champions league.

She has previously played FC Minsk, Aris Thessaloniki, Assi IF, Sporting Club de Huelva and KKPK Medyk Konin.
