Liberty Professionals have boosted their hopes of surviving in the Ghana Premier League following a 3-2 win against Karela United on Sunday afternoon.
The Scientific Soccer lads have won three out of their last five games – conceding 11 and scoring 9 goals in the process.
Abraham Wayo opened the scoring inside 10 minutes at the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope after picking a delightful pass from the midfield.
Karela have lost 4 out of their last five games in the premier league – losing three consecutive matches before this game but pushed for the equalizer before the break and their effort paid off through Diawisie Taylor who equalized for the Anyinase-based club in the 16th-minute.
Moments later, Kwame Karikari restored parity for Liberty from the spot in the 27-minutes to end the first half on top of the game.
Karela United started the second half brilliantly – kept the ball for the larger part of the opening stages but could not convert the chances that came their way until the 70th-minute when Vaney Sando netted an equalizer before Evans Owusu brilliantly scored to win the day for Liberty.
The win leaves Liberty at the 14th-minute place with 38 points after 32 round of games while Karela ist on the 7th position with 46 points.
Up next for Liberty Professionals, they will face a tough test from in-form Hearts of Oak on matchday 33 of the Ghana Premier League while Karela United also take on Aduana Stars.
