Mariano Barreto is facing further problems after losing his number one goalkeeper Kwame Baah to injury today, throwing away his plans of placing Asante Kotoko in better positions in the league and FA Cup .

Baah who has become the number one again in Kotoko after playing second and third fiddles at some points to Razak Abalora and Felix Annan is said to be traumatised after the latest blow. He has been in posts in the last few matches including the top liner against Hearts Of Oak last week and the last match against King Faisal on Saturday at Obuasi.

He has unfortunately been injured today at the Kotoko training following an accidental clash with striker Solomon Sarfo Taylor ,leaving the keeper with a gnashing wound on the head ,which needed several stitches. It rained earlier and the slippery pitch contributed to the accident between the two players on the pitch .

The timely intervention of the Kotoko medical team present saved Baah but unfortunately cut short plans to include him in the squad for tomorrow’s FA Cup match against Division One Campaigners Asokwa Deportivo .

Felix Annan and Razak Abalora are expected to fight for the number spot for now . The goalkeeping position in Kotoko has been the most fought for ,even pushing national goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim to be loaned to King Faisal earlier in the season . The other three goalkeepers have been rotating the positing among themselves with Abalora mostly the favourite .

It is not known when Baah will actually return to action but the Kotoko medical team is understood to be working around the corner to bring the player back as soon as possible . Ghansportspage can confirm that Kwame Baah is likely to miss about three matches for Kotoko.

The season is therefore over for him should Kotoko be booted out of the FA Cup, as the league is left with only two matches to end. His hopes will therefore hinge on Kotoko qualifying for the next round of the FA Cup, with Barreto hoping to lift that trophy after losing grounds to rivals Hearts of Oak in the battle for the league title .

Kotoko are the favourites to qualify over Deportivo tomorrow and that is the prayer and hopes of Baah especially and the millions of the Kotoko fans
