Head coach of Division One League side Asokwa Deportivo, Stephen Frimpong Manso is optimistic his outfit will surprise giant’s Asante Kotoko SC when they face them in the MTN FA cup.
The Lower-tier club have been drawn against the Porcupine Warriors in the 2020/21 MTN FA cup round of 16 after qualifying from the round of 32 stage. The draw will have Asokwa Deportivo play as guest to Asante Kotoko SC on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
Speaking ahead of the clash, former player and trainer of Asante Kotoko SC now coach of the Division One club, Stephen Frimpong Manso believe his lads are well motivated to surprise the Reds. According to him, the encounter will leave to the billing of MTN FA cup slogan ‘Obia ny3 Obia’.
“Asante Kotoko SC lost race with the Premier League title so definitely their concentration will be on the MTN FA cup, they will come out fully armed”Normally when they are playing against Lower tier side the boys are motivated because each one of them wants to play against Asante Kotoko”.
“From my angle, it will be a good game very interesting one of course but my players are motivated to play”, Frimpong Manso said.
“It’s an FA cup and everything can happen considering the slogan of the competition ‘Obia ny3 Obia'”On paper Asante Kotoko looks favourite but it’s an FA cup which we have seen surprises all around”
“Asokwa Deportivo is looking forward for such surprises when we face them”.
Winner of this encounter, makes it to the round of 8 as they close the FA cup curtains for this season.
