Hearts of Oak won their first Premier League title after a 1-1 draw against Liberty Professionals.
Hearts of Oak opened the scoring in the second minute of additional time, Daniel Afriyie headed in a decent corner kick from Ibrahim Salifu.
Liberty Professionals from then dominated the game and had a deserving equalizer in the 87th minute, Kwame Paul leapt the highest to head in a free-kick.
The whole stadium went gay after the referee signalled the end of the game, Hearts of Oak win their first league title since 2009.
However, vice president the Republic of Ghana, H.E Dr. Mahumudu Bawumia on his Twitter page congratulated the Phobians for their feat and also took the opportunity to congratulate Bibiani Gold Stars who secured their first ever promotion into the Ghanaian top-flight over the weekend.
Hearts of Oak last won the Ghana Premier League in the 2008/09 season, led by Serbian trainer Kosta Papic, who had a brief reunion with the club this season.
The victory means the 2000 CAF Champions League winner will be making a return to Africa’s most pretigious club competition for the first time in a decade.
