Elmina Sharks midfielder, James Bissue believes his goal from halfway line against Legon Cities will win FIFA Puskas award this year.
Sharks in the said match won by 2-0 at the Ndoum Sports Complex with Bissue scoring the second that wrapped the win.
Bissue fired from halfway after seeing the goalkeeper off his line although he had a tussle with his marker before the shot but managed to get the right technique behind the ball that went all the way into the net.
Sports journalist, Saddick Adams tweeted the goal and the video has been trending worldwide with major sports tabloids comparing it to that of Patrick Shick’s in the just ended European Championship.
Many believe the goal make the cut for a nomination for the Puskas Award at the annual Best Awards organized by FIFA or probably win the category.
James Bissue in an interview with Angel FM in Accra is optimistic about becoming the first Ghanaian to win the award and the third in that regard to grab a nomination after Michael Essien and Kevin Prince Boateng.
“I believe I can win it because looking at the comments and how the video is trending, I hope that God will help me win it.”
