Hearts of Oak have finally laid hands on the Ghana Premier League trophy for the first time since 2009.
The Phobians’ long wait for a major title is over after lifting the trophy in Sogakope despite their 1-0 defeat to WAFA on the coronation day.
Hearts of Oak had a rough start but a strong second round earned them a 21st league title with an incredible form towards the end of the season.
The Accra based side had the most wins, 17, and the second fewest defeat, 7, one behind second place Asante Kotoko.
They were the third height scoring team, 45, tied with Dreams FC but ended the season with most goal difference of 22, condensing 23 goals.
Hearts of Oak in total, obviously had the most points of 61 to secure the much wanted trophy.
In addition, the Rainbow team set the record of longest unbeaten run, 11 games and also had the most consecutive wins, 5, and longest clean sheet run, 5.
Hearts of Oak were presented GHC 200,000 cash price and 40 gold medals together with the trophy and will represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League next season.
