WAFA defeated league champions Hearts of Oak 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Academy boys hosted the Phobians in the last game of the season to officially crown Hearts the champions of the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League season.
The Accra-based club finished at the top of the standings with 61 points from 34 matches ahead of closest rivals Asante Kotoko, who will play Elmina Sharks on Sunday on the final match day.
Kotoko, with a game to end the season have 57 points, but still lead their local rivals in the all-time table in the Ghana league as they have won 23 league titles..
In a game that was played in front of a packed crowd, WAFA excelled and managed to cruise to an important 1-0 win at the end of the game courtesy of a strike from Togolese International Atte Yousifou in the second half.
Now finishing third at the end of the Ghana Premier League season, WAFA SC will be entitled to GHS80,000.
Despite the defeat, Hearts of Oak are being crowned Champions of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season.
