The manager was furious at some fans who turned up at the team’s hotel to insult the players few hours before the MTN FA Cup quarter-finals game against Berekum Chelsea.
Mariano Barreto says the fans who threatened the players during their lunch ‘got what they really wanted.’
Asante Kotoko went on to lose 5-4 on penalties to Berekum Chelsea after the match ended goalless to end their 20/21 term trophyless.
Speaking at the post-match, the Portuguese was disappointed with the act by the supporters.
“People who are supposed to be Kotoko supporters came to where we were having our lunch to insult our players, so most of the players played today because we told them to play. I’m sure Kotoko supporters are now happy we lost, the supporters got what they really wanted”.
Barreto added that he has urge the club’s management to prove into the incident.
“I have told the management to investigate and punish those supporters who did that”
