Ashantigold winger Amos Addae has said that his side are scoring more goals recently because of the betting allegations against his club.
The miners have dominated the headlines in recent weeks after their Ghana Premier League matchweek 34 clash against Inter Allies at the Len Clay Stadium which produced 7 goals. Many believes that scoreline was influenced by betting syndicates.
However, Amos Addae in an interview with West FM said they are motivated to score more goals because of the betting allegations against the Miners.
”Such words have motivated us in all our activities and that’s why we look unbeatable now,” he said
“As Professional Players and clubs, time has come for us to learn and desist ourselves from match fixing or betting because it doesn’t speak well of the game of football, it can also limit our career”
”For me, I don’t like Betting, I always wake up and pray to God for a successful day because I know that Heavenly Father who provide us our needs hate sin so I don’t involve myself into such betting or match fixing,” he added.
The Miners beat Chelsea with a 4-1 scoreline at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday after an initial 1-1 match score at the end of the regular 90 minutes, scoring three goals in the extra time.
Addai, who has been good all season for Ashgold, scored the club’s third goal on the day after Eric Esso and Amos Nkrumah had netted earlier before Seth Osei wrapped things up for the Obuasi-based club.
Amos was adjudged the Man of the Man for his dazzling performance on the afternoon.
Ashantigold will now face Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium in the finals of the FA Cup on August 5, 2021.
