Ashanti Gold are into their fourth-ever MTN FA Cup final and are hoping to lay hands on the trophy that has eluded the club for a very long time.
The Miners have had a brilliant journey throughout the knockout stages and are the side with the most goals scored in the competition, 15 goals.
The Yellow and Blacks are into what is their first domestic cup finals in 9 years and would want to win the trophy for the first time since 1993.
Ashanti Gold were close to winning the competition in 2012 but painfully suffered a 1-0 defeat to New Edubiase. Ibrahim Moro put the dagger through the hearts of the Miners with his second-half strike.
Here they are again after a long while, this obviously another opportunity to break the long-standing jinx of not clinching the title for 28 years now.
The free-scoring side will face the competition’s record champions and current Ghana Premier league winners, Hearts of Oak on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Here is a quick recap of Ashanti Golds path to the finals.
The one-time champions began their MTN FA Cup journey with a 1-0 win over fellow premier league side King Faisal FC in the round of 16, followed by a 2-1 away victory over lower-tier side Aboi Young Stars in round 32.
The Miners went blazing from the round of 16 to the semi-finals, scoring 4 goals in each of the games to book a spot in the grand finale.
They dispatched Aduana Stars 4-2, then destroyed Kintampo Top Talents FC by the same scoreline before grabbing their 4th final appearance by beating Berekum Chelsea FC 4-1 in the semis after extra time.
The final is scheduled at 5 PM kick-off time.
