Hasaacas Ladies head Coach, Yusif Basigi says his side were able to overcome a difficult journey in the WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League with ‘determination’.
Hasmal lost their opening group game to eventual finalist Rivers Angels FC but managed to go all the way and win the maiden trophy by beating the Nigerians 3-1.
Speaking upon the team’s arrival in Ghana from Côte d’Ivoire, Basigi said it took ‘determined and passion’ to put the defeat behind and finish the qualifying tournament with 3 straight victories.
“It was a very difficult journey but once we were determined we were able to benefit. Because if you don’t do something with passion you turn to give up. So we told ourselves that ‘it going to be difficult but we will not give up and will fight till the end’.
In our first game everybody saw what happened, we lost 2-0 to the Nigerians which many thought that was the end of the journey. But because we were determined we didn’t back down and now this is the result.” He said in a voice aired on Wuntomi Online on Facebook
Hasaacas Ladies have now qualified for the maiden CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt.
