Asante Kotoko SC are yet to open talks with center back, Abdul Ismail Ganiu whose contract runs out in October, ghanasportspage.com can exclusively confirm.
Ganiu signed his current contract with Asante Kotoko back in October 2018.
Few weeks ago, the player was reported to have agreed extension terms with the club, but a source close to the player has revealed to ghanasportspage.com that the Reds have not offered any contract extension proposal.
“No one has brought contract extension to Ganiyu”, the source claimed.
Asante Kotoko are alleged to have been engaging in peddling falsehood, claiming to have reached an agreement on a new deal with the player. “They (Asante Kotoko) are going round spreading falsehood but no one has approached him and no one has spoken to the player’s management”, the source alleged.
There have been media publications claiming the player and the club have agreed on a new deal, but it remains factually unclear whether Asante Kotoko are behind these publications as the club has not issued any statement on the future of Ganiyu.
However, we are reliably informed that Ganiyu is willing to extend his stay with the Porcupine Warriors.
The Black Stars defender has been on the radar of many clubs both local and foreign.
The 24-year-old had a stellar season for the Porcupines that earned him a Black Stars call up for the AFCON 2022 qualifiers.
Undoubtedly he is one of the top performers of the 20/21 Ghana Premier League Season with 4 man-of-the-match awards and three goals to his credit along side little over 13 clean sheets.
