Ghana is set to make their 24th appearance at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) as CAF announces dates for Group stage games of the tournament hosted in Cameroon.
Along with one of the top-seeded countries- Morocco, Ghana shares Group C with Gabon and debutants Comoros.
Black Stars will set off their journey to end over three decades of search for a fifth AFCON title against the Atlas Lions on Monday, January 10, 2022.
The four-time champions will then face the Panthers of Gabon in a second group encounter on January 14, before wrapping up against first-timers, Comoros.
The competition was originally set to come off in June-July 2021 but was postponed to January 9-February 6 2021 on the account of unfavourable climate conditions.
CAF on 30th June 2020, rescheduled the biennial International Men’s Football Championship of Africa for the second time to January-February 2022 due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
After series of postponements, the tournament is set to kick start with host Nation, Cameroon opening Africa’s flagship competition against Burkina Faso at Paul Biya Stadium in Yaoundé.
