African Football Expert, Nuhu Adams on Tuesday reported that Belgium Pro league side, Royal Antwerp has expressed interest in Hearts of Oak talisman Ibrahim Salifu.
According to the report, Royal Antwerp have submitted an offer of around $600,000 for Salifu and are hoping it’ll be enough to lure Hearts of Oak into selling the talented midfielder.
However, journalist Saddick Adams reports shortly after the news that, the Board Chairman of Hearts of Oak, Togbe Afede XV has rejected the offer as he’s not willing to let any of their assets until after they have played in the CAF Champions League.
Togbe believes the players will have their values increase when they play in the Champions League and their team cohesion will also help the club make an impact in the competition.
This is the third time the club has rejected an offer for their players after Afriyie Barnieh and Raddy Ovouka.
Ibrahim Salifu enjoyed a great 2020/21 season with Eleven Wonders and Hearts of Oak. The mercurial midfielder featured in 32 league games for the 2 clubs, scoring 3 goals, providing 8 assists and winning 8 man of the match awards, the most in the league.
Salifu in the process propelled Hearts of Oak to winning the Premier League title and the MTN FA cup. In July, he was named best local player at the Ghana Football awards.
Meanwhile, the Phobians will travel to Conakry to take on Cl Kamsar in the preliminary round of the 2021-22 CAF Champions League.
