Ashanti Gold SC have appointed former Ebusua Dwarfs manager Ernest Thompson-Quartey as the new head coach for the forthcoming Ghana Premier League (GPL) season.
Pending official announcement by the club, Thompson has confirmed his appointment in an interview with Oyerepa FM and is set to commence pre-season on September 8.
He takes over the Miners from stopgap coach Thomas Duah who led the club to the MTN FA Cup final but lost on penalties to Hearts of Oak.
“Yes, that’s true I have signed 2 years with the club. I will start work after the refresher course in Accra even though the club starts pre-season on September 8th” he told Oyerepa FM
Ernest Thompson had fairly a good spell with Ebusua Dwarfs in the 20/21 GPL season but due to unknown reasons, he resigned from his role in June and thus did not complete the season with the Crabs.
His Dwarfs’ side enjoyed some significant wins against Ashanti Gold, Aduana Stars, Great Olympics and Berekum Chelsea.
