Newly-signed midfielder Gladson Awako has urged the supporters of Hearts of Oak to lower their expectations ahead of the start of their CAF Champions League campaign.
Awako joined the Phobians last month from city rivals Great Olympics to boost their squad ahead of the new football season.
The 2015 Champions League winner with TP Mazembe ahead of the commencement of the preliminary stages of the competition has called on the fans of Hearts to lower their expectations while promising to give their all.
“They shouldn’t expect too much,” Awako told Joy Sports in an interview.
“We’ll do our best, we’ll do what we can to get to the money zone which won’t be easy but I know with the team, the management and support from the board chairman I know we’ll do our best to get to the money zone. So they shouldn’t expect too much that we’ll go and win the trophy. They should limit the expectation, which will take some pressure off the team.”
Hearts begin their 2021-22 Champions League with a trip to Guinea to face Cl Kamsar.
The match is scheduled for the Nongo-General Lansana Conte stadium on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at 04:00GMT.
Hearts suffered a difficult start to the Ghana Premier League before having a turnaround in the second half of the season to lift the domestic title first time in 12 years.
They also defeated Medeama SC in semifinals and AshGold in final to win the FA Cup.
