Oyerepa FM sports desk report that, Mariano Barreto and Asante Kotoko have reached an agreement to have his contract terminated.
The decision was arrived during the Portuguese gaffer’s engagement with the club’s CEO, Nana Yaw Amponsah on amicable resolution to end his relationship with the Reds.
Multiple reports in the local media on Tuesday had it that the former Black Stars coach contacted officials of Kotoko to purchase his return ticket to enable him to come and commence pre-season with the club.
However, Oyerepa FM has reported that Mariano Barreto has not asked for return ticket back to Ghana. In Principle, he accepted not to return to Ghana so wants amicable settlement after engaging club CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah.
Nana Yaw Amponsah, however, on Thursday informed the board of directors in a meeting at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Kumasi of their decision not to continue with Mariano Barreto and the board has given their support to the CEO to cancel the contract and hire a new gaffer to manage the team.
Media Reports has it that Kotoko are in advanced talks with WAFA coach Dr Prosper Nartey Ogum to take over as the new head coach .
It believed that Nana Yaw Amponsah at the meeting on Thursday put before the board the credentials of Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum which they’ve accepted him to lead the team.
He’s expected to be named the new head coach in the coming days.
