Ghana Head Coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor, has said he was ‘satisfied’ with the team’s first-half performance in defeat to South Africa at the FNB Stadium.
According to Akonnor, Black Stars controlled the first period but lost their shape in the second half which resulted in the loss.
Bongokuhle Hlongwane scored with 8 minutes left on the clock for Bafana Bafana to earn a significant 1-0 win in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
“Well, we started very well in the first half, tactically we were very disciplined. It went the way we want it. [But] we were not clinical upfront, that’s the problem. But I was satisfied with the way we played in terms of controlling the game.” CK said at the post-match as quoted by Joysports’ Gary Al-Smith
“In the second half, we somehow lost the midfield in terms of how we want to play because we believed that we could win the game. We did one or two substitutions, which really went the other way round and we kept dropping and dropping,” he added
Ghana sits second in Group G while South Africa occupy the first spot with 4 points.
