Ghanaian international Kevin-Prince Boateng has opened up on why he broke with his junior brother Jerome Boateng in the course of the conviction for assault and insult.
“I’ve distanced myself from Jerome for a long time,” Kevin-Prince told the Bild. “I value and respect German law. I abhor violence against women. I don’t identify with my brother’s actions and therefore have nothing to do with him anymore.”
Jerome Boateng was sentenced on Thursday by the Munich district court to a fine of 1.8 million euros for willful assault and insult against his former partner.
He is said to have violently attacked and insulted her on a Caribbean vacation three years ago. Kevin-Prince and Jerome have the same father from Ghana but different mothers. Both grew up separately in Berlin.
Kevin-Prince returned to his youth club Hertha BSC this summer. Jerome joined Olympique Lyon on a free transfer from Bayern Munich.
