Former Asante Kotoko captain, Joseph Hendricks has recommended the reappointment of James Kwesi Appiah as Black Stars head coach if Charles Kwabla Akonnor is axed.
Many Ghanaians are calling for Akonnor’s head following a sloppy start in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, an unconvincing win over Ethiopia and a defeat against South Africa in the first two games.
Reacting on whether or not CK should be sacked, Hendricks sho seems to support the idea of showing the current manager the exit suggested that Appiah should be appointed, which will be his third spell with the team.
“I would suggest we bring back Kwesi Appiah if we want a Local Coach because he already has the experience ahead of any other who would come and learn on the job but Kwesi Appiah has already learned from his mistakes,” the ex-Ghana defender told Spice FM in an interview.
He added, “Local Coaches have problems working for the Black Stars because of the mentality that they have achieved and are successful than other Local Managers looking at their bank accounts.”
Ghana are on the same point with Ethiopia, 3, while South Africa lead Group G with 4 points as Zimbabwe lies fourth with no point after two games.
