Serbian coach Milovan Rajevac will be named as new Black Stars head coach in the coming days.
Milovan Rajevac will replace Charles Kwabla Akonnor, who together with his two Assistants David Duncan and Patrick Greveraars were dismissed on Monday following a string of poor performances, with the latest one being a 1-0 defeat to South Africa in the World Cup qualifiers.
Milo is highly regarded in the Ghanaian football terrain having managed the Black Stars between 2008-2010.
The Serbian gaffer led the Black Stars to the quarterfinals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, missing out on a place in the semifinals after losing on penalty shootouts to Uruguay.
He also led a young Black Stars squad to the final of the 2010 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Angola, where Ghana lost 1-0 to Egypt in the finals.
Rajevac parted ways with Ghana just days after the World Cup. He went on to manage Saudi side Al-Ahli, Qatar national team, Rudar Velenje of Slovenia and the Algeria and Thailand national team.
The experienced gaffer is expected to rescue Ghana’s hopes of securing a place at the 2022 World Cup to be played in Qatar.
Ghana have had a horrendous start to the World Cup qualifiers. The four-time African champions defeated Ethiopia 1-0 at the Cape Coast Stadium in the first qualifier, before losing to South Africa in Johannesburg by similar scoreline days later.
The Black Stars after 2 games sit in 2nd place in Group G with 3 points. South Africa are top of the table with 4 points. Ethiopia sit 3rd with 3 points, whiles Zimbabwe sit bottom with a point.
Ghana will return to action next month for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe in a double tie.
The first game between the two sides will take place in Ghana on Wednesday, October 6 and the second game in Harare on Sunday, October 10.
