Hearts of Oak will make their first appearance in six years in Africa club competition when they play Guinean side CL Kamsar in the CAF Champions League preliminary round this afternoon.
Last season, the Phobians dominated the local scene to win the Ghana Premier League and MTN FA cup to represent Ghana at the continental level.
Hearts of Oak, led by head coach Samuel Boadu has made some signings to strengthen the playing body, including Kofi Kodzi, Gladson Awako, Salim Adams, Isaac Agyenim Boateng and others.
For CL Kamsar, today will be their third game in the CAF champions league history after playing Etoile Sportive du Sahel in the first round qualifiers in 1998. The Guineans lost 3-5 over the two-leg tie and have since not made any appearance to date.
However, this will be an opportunity for the two teams to take their first step towards making the group stage. Whoever emerge victors will play either Wydad Athletic Club or Olympique de Bangui.
This will be the first meeting between the two teams, and Hearts of Oak will hope to make their home advantage count when they host the Guineans at the Accra sports stadium.
