Former Asante Kotoko captain, Ibrahim Sunday, hopes newly appointed gaffer, Prosper Ogum Nartey could cope with the pressure that comes with coaching the Porcupines.
Nartey was appointed on Saturday, September 18 to lead the Reds for the upcoming Ghana Premier League season, taking over from experienced coach Mariano Barretto.
Speaking to GL radio in China, Sunday said Kotoko is usually managed by former players who turn to cope with the pressure but perhaps Ogum will be lucky in that regard despite not being an ex-player of the club.
“….You have to know the team and what it represents before you can probably be successful. Almost all the coaches who coach the team(Kotoko) are legends of the team but maybe he(Ogum) will be lucky. Because of the kind of pressure he has to deal with, if he has been a player of the club before then he will know how to cope. But if you’ve not played before, it will appear new then you start to make mistakes.”
Prosper Ogum Narteh has already taken charge of two training sessions with Asante Kotoko as he continues to condition the players for the forthcoming season.
