The 4th Edition of the Asante Akyem Marathon has been scheduled for Saturday, 25th September 2021. The annual event which is put together by sports marketing and promotes talented sports athletes and will be held in Agogo in the Ashante Region.
Asante Akyem Marathon has attracted an international audience as an Italian Giacomo Massini and South African have been registered to participate.
Registration for the 24km race is opened to both men and women. The winner for this year’s event in the men’s category will walk away with GHC 5000, Second takes GHC 3000, Third goes home with GHC 2000, and from 4th -10th will earn GHC 200 each.
In the Female’s category, the winner will take home GHC 2000, Second GHC 1000, Third GHC 500 and from 4th-10th to earn 100 each. The event is in partnership with Ghana Athletic Association (GAA), Ministry of Youth and sports and National Sports Authorities.
William Amponsah emerged winner of the maiden edition and as part of his prize, he participated in the 2018 Dubai Marathon. John Konadu also won the second edition in 2019. Last Year’s (2020) event was called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year’s Asante Akyem Marathon is organized by Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang and the event comes off on Saturday, 25th September 2021.
