Asante Kotoko SC have set deadline for Ismail Gainu to respond to contract extension offer submitted a week ago.
The Black Stars defender have few weeks left in his current contract that will run out on October 30, 2021.
Kotoko have been in talk for an extension and have submitted a first offer to the player as reported by ghanasportspage.com a week ago. The club in the meantime and awaits response.
According to Oyerepa FM, the Reds have given Ganiu a two-day deadline to respond to the offer. The deadline ends on Friday, September 24.
However, report by former communications director, Obed Acheampong indicates that Ganiu has been offered GHC 10,000 a month’s salary without enticement fee and looks set to put pen to paper.
Despite talks ongoing, the Reds seems to have started life without their pillar at the back, signing Maxwell Agyemang from Mighty Royals FC in the second tier who they deem as Ganiu’s replacement.
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old has reported for pre-season with the team ahead of the new Ghana Premier League season.
If Asante Kotoko fail to reach an agreement with Ismail Abdul Ganiu, he will be the third long serving player to exit the club ahead of the new season, joining Felix Annan and Wahab Adams.
