Kumasi-based Fabulous Ladies is one of the most cherished professional women’s football teams in Ghana. It was formed by Habiba Atta Forson a member of the Ghana Women’s Premier League in 1985, as the first female club in Ghana named Ashtown Ladies. In the 1990s after approaching the late Otumfuo Opoku Ware II the club was permitted to use the Asante Kotoko logo. The club was one of the twelve founding members of the Ghana Women’s Premier League in 2012. Fabulous Ladies is based in the Northern Zone of the league.
Many people believe that Fabulous Ladies belongs to the ‘Porcupine Warriors’ Asante Kotoko but through our investigations, we have discovered the truth and the secret behind the Fabulous Ladies.

Fabulous Ladies doesn’t belong to Kumasi Asante Kotoko but it belongs to a former female footballer who wore a Kotoko jersey for some friendly games with the men’s team according to the spokesperson of the above-mentioned women’s football club.
In an interview with Sir Martin on GL Radio Patrick Apreku( Man Aprek) a senior sports journalist at Sika FM and also spokesperson of the club explained “The relationship between Kotoko and Fabulous Ladies doesn’t mean it belongs to Kotoko but it was formed by a certain woman who played for Asante Kotoko some years ago with the men’s team. Though it wasn’t a competitive game she played for Asante Kotoko. She is a member of the Kotoko Ladies that’s why she formed Fabulous Ladies an appraisal to Kotoko.
“It shows the respect, love, and passion she is having for Kotoko as a team and the patron of the club.
In addition Mr. Apreku also said, “If the owners of Kotoko approach her to handle over the Fabulous Ladies to them I don’t think it will be very difficult but she will accept an and do justice for that.
“We have tried to educate people on that and we are still doing it. These issues popped up when the FA tasked each club to have a women’s football team for the upcoming season because they want development in women’s football in Ghana.
“The woman adopted Asante Kotoko logo for Fabulous Ladies because of being former Kotoko player and the love she has for Kotoko”. He told GL Radio in China.
