The Tamale based club secured a great comeback into the Ghana Premier League after topping the Zone 1 Division One League.
In week One, RTU will make their 2021/22 GPL debut against Accra Great Olympics ‘Oly Dade’ which will be a crucial game for the Tamale boys but they have thrown a challenge to the Accra based club to expect a tough game and a defeat.
According to the spokesperson of the club Sey Mubarick, they have returned to compete and stay in the GPL forever and are expected to be part of the top four by the close of the season.
In an exclusive interview on GLRADIO he claimed “We have come to compete in the league. In fact, the management have met the technical team and the playing body with a plans of being part of the top four by the close of next season.
“The technical team and the players know the responsibilities ahead of them.
“Our first game will be against Great Olympics and of course when you check the history between this two clubs fortunately Great Olympics are traditional club same as RTU and this will produce a tough game between the two clubs. Checking on the early ’70s to the 90’s RTU was a dominant club than Olympics. We are expecting that this record will be held on again so that the guys who qualified the team back to the GPL can continue the history between the Olympics and RTU.
Talking about the fixtures he also said “We’ve seen the fixtures but all will base on our preparations and the new signings we will make going forward. The coach is highly proud of gaining 12 points from his first five games out of fifteen and we are very optimistic that he can perform well for us. We want to join the top four by the close of the first round”. He promised.
“Olympics are having many names but we want to buy them ‘kuri kuri’ after they have conceded a defeat. We will add ‘Kuri Kuri’ to their name so that they will be called ‘Oly Kuri Kuri’. Mubarick told ghanasportspage.com
