Ugandan striker Steven Dese Mukwala will meet his Asante Kotoko teammates in the United Arab Emirates should the club finalize his deal in the coming days.
Asante Kotoko commenced negotiations with URA FC for Mukwala as Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has hinted to beef up his frontline options with the acquisition of the prolific frontman as he is ready to offload some dead wood attackers in their folds in order to make room for the formation of vulnerable attacking upfront.
However, Mukwala will be the latest player to join the Reds as he has agreed on personal terms with the Porcupines over a three-year deal subject to a mandatory medical examination to the two-time CAF Champions League title holders.
The striker has been named in a 28-man squad released by head Coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic for FIFA World Cup double-header against Rwanda.
The 22-year-old after national assignment will then join the Kumasi-based club for preseason in Dubai as talks between his parent club URA FC and Asante Kotoko are far advanced over his transfer.
Mukwala has been in impeccable form in the last two seasons as he won the 2019-2020 Ugandan Premier League golden boot with 13 goals in 22 matches with Maroons FC as well as ending the 2020/21 season as the top scorer of Uganda Rivers Authority (URA FC) after notching fourteen (14) goals in 24 matches.
