Hearts of Oak midfielder, Abdul Manaf Umar Gumah has had his loan move to newly promoted side, Real Tamale United(RTU) cancelled, RTU spokesperson Sey Mubarick confirms.
Manaf was on the verge of a switch from the reigning Ghana Premier League champions to join the Division One Zone 1 champions in search of game time.
The youth team graduate who had an impressive first round for the Phobians in the League last season was relegated to the bench after coach Samuel Boadu took over from Kosta Papic for the second round.
He was involved in 7 goals in 24 appearances last term, 4 goals and 3 assists.
The 27-year-old is apparently not in Boadu’s plans as the former was omitted from the club’s 36-man squad for the CAF Champions League.
The player had already bid farewell to Hearts of Oak via his social media handle but the move to RTU has failed to materialize.
According to Mubarick, the deal has fell through after the player refused to extend his contract before the loan deal.
“Initially, Hearts of Oak wanted to extend the boy’s(Manaf Umar) contract before they loan him to us. But the player and his father refused to extend the contract with Hearts. Manaf will start training with the Phobians today.
“So Hearts wanted to sell him to us outright for GHC 100,000. He is left with just four months and we think the price is too much. So they told us to wait for his four months to run out then we will register him for the second round.”
Manaf Umar turned down Hearts of Oak’s two-years contract extension and will now exhaust the few months left in his current contract.
