Fiorentina FC midfielder, Joseph Alfred Duncan has said his failure to honour a recent call-up to the Black Stars has been misinformed by the Ghanaian media.
Duncan was named in coach Milovan Rajevac’s provisional 32 man list for a doubleheader against Zimbabwe in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Initial reports claimed that the former Sassuolo midfielder has asked to be excused due to an injury that makes him unavailable for the game against the Warriors. However, Duncan, who was said to be injured featured in Fiorentina’s 2-1 defeat to Napoli in the Serie A last Sunday.
The player in a tweet via his handle has denied that his absence was on the account of an injury and thus he spoke with Rajevac over his unavailability.
Black Stars’ 32-man list has been trimmed down to 27 players who have begun training ahead of the first leg on Saturday, October 9 and the second leg in Harare on October 12.
