Owner and bankroller of Berekum Chelsea Obed Nana Kwame Nketiah has provided the latest update on Stephen Amankona’s imminent transfer to Asante Kotoko.
Amankona has been a Kotoko target since the season ended and he has reportedly agreed on personal terms with the Porcupines.
Currently, the deal is on hold with a grapevine source revealing to Ghanasportspage.com that Chelsea wants Osman Ibrahim as part of the deal but the player wants to stay in Kumasi and play for King Faisal.
Both parties are still locked up in negotiation to wrap up the deal before the transfer window closes on Sunday.
However, Nana Kwame reveals in an interview with Ghanasportspage.com that negotiation is still ongoing and he is ready to release the player to join Asante Kotoko should they reach an agreement.
“We are still negotiating and it was never true that he was doing medicals at Kotoko, we’ve not reached an agreement yet so he’s still in Berekum,” Nana Kwame told Ghanasportspage.com.
Nana Kwame was asked whether he was willing to release his captain to Kotoko, he said; “Why not? It’s football, I can’t keep the boy for the rest of his career. At a certain level in his life, he has to move to another club provided he’s interested. Many clubs came knocking but he rejected all and opted to play for Kotoko so if all that we’ve discussed are to go as planned, we will release him.”
The Black Stars B player, 21, scored 10 goals for Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League last season.
