Former Asante Kotoko SC assistant manager, Johnson Smith has confirmed that Ghana Premier League (GPL) side, Berekum Chelsea are keen on appointing him as a new Head Coach.
Smith has validated to ghanasportpage.com that Chelsea have contacted him over a move to the Berekum-based club ahead of the new Ghana football season.
The experienced gaffer has few weeks left in his current contract that is set to end in November and thus will be free to join any team that will need his service.
Kotoko have already communicated to the former Karela manager about their intention of not extending the deal after the contract has run out.
Johnson Smith in a chat with ghanasportspage said he has put talks in Chelsea on hold due to demand for his unpaid salary at Kotoko.
He said the Porcupines owes him three months salary, which he wants full payment before continuing negotiations with any other interested party.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko have appointed a new technical team led by former WAFA coach, Prosper Ogum Narteh and has already begun pre-season.
The team is currently in Accra for a three-day training period before a trip to Dubai for two weeks pre-season tour for the forthcoming GPL season.
Kotoko will commence their new season away to Dreams FC between October 29, 30 and 31.
