Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea have finally agreed on a deal for Stephen Amankona ahead of the new season, according to Pure FM.
Initially, Chelsea were not ready to reduce their price tag for the winger but later changed their stance with Kotoko also increasing his onward transfer fee to 30% as requested by Chelsea.
Asante Kotoko will pay a fee of ¢150,000 for the services of the 21-year-old forward with the money expected to be settled by Friday.
Amankona is expected to join the team in Accra with his passport already with Asante Kotoko now as the team prepares to leave Ghana for a preseason tour in Dubai later today.
Stephen Amankona, who enjoyed a remarkable 2020-21 campaign with the Bibires courted interest from many clubs including Medeama, Hearts of Oak, and Dreams FC but it is Kotoko who have won the race.
Amankona was sensational and undoubtedly one of the best players in the league having scored 15 goals in all competitions in the 2020-21 season coupled with 7 assists, alongside three man-of-the-match awards in the GPL.
Meanwhile, Amankona becomes the Porcupines’ ninth signing so far after Richmond Lamptey, Samuel Appiah, Richard Boadu, Clinton Opoku, Isaac Oppong, Augustine Agyapong, Maxwell Agyemang and Samuel Boateng.
